Frontend work on the Troop Travel group travel platform, a B2B SaaS for planning and approving business travel for groups. Complex forms, role-dependent flows, and a lot of conditional state.
About the client
Troop Travel is a B2B SaaS company working on group and business travel planning: coordinating trips, routing approvals, and keeping costs visible while decisions are still being made.
Project Overview
Group business travel is an approvals problem wearing a travel problem’s clothes. Several people want different things, somebody has to sign off, and the budget has an opinion. Troop lets teams propose trips, compare options and push decisions through a structured approval flow.The value is getting travellers, managers and finance looking at the same thing before anything is booked, rather than after, when changing it costs money.On the frontend that becomes complex forms, dynamic state, and flows that change depending on who you are and how far the request has got. The same screen has to behave differently for the person requesting and the person approving.The aim throughout was to keep that invisible. Business users should move through proposals and approvals without ever meeting the logic underneath.
The Challenge
The hard part is making the interface reflect the business rules exactly. Available actions change with role, status and context, and every combination is a state somebody will eventually hit. Get one wrong and a user sees a button that should not exist.Consistency across a growing SaaS codebase matters just as much. Features keep arriving, and each one has to stay reliable for people doing their job with it every day.
My Contribution
Frontend developer on the platform, working on user-facing features across the product.Most of my work was custom reusable components and the multi-step flows around planning and approvals. That means a lot of conversation with product and engineering about what a rule actually means before it can be built.I stayed focused on code quality and reuse, which in a product this size is the difference between adding a feature and negotiating with the codebase first.
