About the client

Vertrical is an international Digital Health consultancy specializing in building compliant health tech software for companies operating within complex ecosystems of clinicians, hospitals, insurers and pharmaceutical organizations. The company operates across three continents and 14 countries, supporting Follow-the-Sun delivery models.

Project Overview

Vertrical partners with Digital Health companies to design and scale software solutions that operate within strict regulatory environments such as GDPR and HIPAA. The projects typically involve complex healthcare workflows, sensitive data handling and high expectations around reliability and usability. During this engagement, I worked on an existing Digital Health platform, contributing to the frontend codebase and ensuring that user interfaces remained scalable, maintainable and aligned with healthcare compliance requirements. The work focused on improving frontend structure and consistency across the application. A key aspect of the role was working within a distributed, international delivery model. The team operated across multiple time zones, requiring strong discipline, clear communication and well-structured code to maintain delivery velocity and quality. The frontend architecture emphasized clarity, predictability and long-term maintainability, supporting the rapid iteration required by health tech products while maintaining the stability expected in regulated environments.

The Challenge

One of the main challenges was contributing to and evolving an already established frontend codebase while maintaining consistency and quality. Changes needed to integrate smoothly with existing functionality and align with strict regulatory and usability expectations. Leading a frontend team within a consulting environment added further responsibility, requiring technical oversight, guidance and quality control to ensure that delivery standards were met across the project.

My Contribution

I worked as a frontend lead on the project, coordinating and supporting a team of developers while contributing directly to the application. My responsibilities included reviewing frontend implementations, guiding architectural decisions and ensuring consistency across components. I developed frontend features using Vue 3 and TypeScript, building custom reusable components styled with Tailwind CSS. Particular attention was given to component quality, performance and predictable behavior, critical for healthcare-related applications. Throughout the engagement, I balanced hands-on development with team oversight, helping ensure that frontend delivery remained aligned with product goals, technical standards and compliance-driven requirements.
