About You – B2B Order & Inventory Management Tool
Frontend work on the About You B2B management platform, the internal tool wholesale customers use to place orders and see stock. It has data-heavy views and custom components inside an established enterprise codebase.
About the client
About You is a large European fashion e-commerce company. Behind the consumer site sits a set of internal tools running B2B partners, logistics and supply chain.
Project Overview
This is the internal web application About You uses to manage business customers, wholesale orders and inventory. B2B clients place orders, check availability and work with operational data as it changes.What makes it demanding is that people make decisions from it. Stock levels, order status, logistics information. If a number is stale or wrong, somebody commits to an order that cannot be filled.On the frontend that means data-driven views, forms and tables carrying a lot of information at once. Custom components work better than off-the-shelf ones here, because generic table components stop being enough the moment the requirements get specific.It integrates tightly with backend services so inventory, orders and customer data stay synchronised. Synchronisation is the whole job in a B2B tool.
The Challenge
The main constraint was working inside an established enterprise codebase. New features have to follow the architectural patterns already there, and the right move is usually to match the existing convention rather than introduce a better one nobody else uses.Performance mattered throughout. At this data volume a careless render turns a working screen into an unusable one, and B2B users notice immediately because they are working, not browsing.
My Contribution
Frontend developer on the platform, working on the interface and the frontend logic.Most of it was implementing and maintaining the custom components used across the data-heavy management screens. I worked with Laravel backend services, mainly around order processing and inventory visibility.The brief I set myself was clean, maintainable code that matches enterprise conventions. On a platform this size, being predictable is worth more than being clever.
