Municipality of Tripoli – Cultural Website & Book Exhibition
Full-stack development of an official cultural website for the Municipality of Tripoli, created to support a public book exhibition and related cultural initiatives. The project focused on delivering a content-heavy, high-traffic WordPress platform suitable for a public sector audience and official municipal communication.

About the client

The Municipality of Tripoli is a public sector organization responsible for local governance and cultural initiatives in the city of Tripoli. As part of its cultural activities, the municipality organizes public events such as book exhibitions, requiring reliable and accessible digital platforms for public information and promotion.

Project Overview

This project involved the design and development of an official municipal website dedicated to the cultural book exhibition organized by the Municipality of Tripoli. The platform served as the primary digital presence for the event, providing information about the exhibition, participating authors, schedules and related cultural activities. The website was built as a content-heavy platform, structured to manage a large volume of editorial content while remaining accessible and easy to navigate for a broad public audience. Particular attention was given to information hierarchy, clarity and usability, ensuring that visitors of varying technical familiarity could easily find relevant information. As a public sector project, the platform required a stable and reliable architecture capable of handling increased traffic during peak periods around the event. The implementation focused on performance, structured content management and long-term maintainability using WordPress and MySQL as the core technologies. This project represented my first experience delivering an official website for a governmental organization, introducing additional considerations around formality, accessibility and content accuracy, while maintaining a modern and user-friendly web experience.

The Challenge

One of the main challenges of the project was balancing public sector requirements with modern web development practices. The website needed to be visually engaging while maintaining the credibility, clarity and structure expected from an official municipal platform. Managing large volumes of content and ensuring smooth performance during periods of high visitor traffic added further complexity. The system also needed to be easy to maintain by non-technical users, making content management and editorial workflows a key focus of the implementation.

My Contribution

I worked as a full-stack developer on the project, taking responsibility for building the website from the ground up and defining its overall structure and functionality. My work included setting up the WordPress architecture, designing content models and implementing custom features tailored to the needs of a public cultural event. A key part of my contribution focused on creating a maintainable and user-friendly content management experience, enabling municipal staff to easily update exhibition information, schedules and announcements without technical assistance. Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with municipal stakeholders to translate organizational requirements into a reliable digital platform, balancing public sector constraints with modern usability, performance and maintainability standards.
