Vertrical works with digital health companies inside real regulatory constraints, GDPR and HIPAA among them. That changes the engineering culture more than people expect: sensitive data, clinical workflows, and a much lower tolerance for the kind of bug you would shrug at elsewhere.I worked on an existing digital health platform, on the frontend codebase, keeping the interfaces maintainable and consistent as the product kept moving. Joining an established codebase is its own discipline. The existing conventions get a vote, including the ones you would not have chosen.The delivery model was distributed and international, across multiple time zones. Follow-the-Sun only works if the code is legible enough that someone eight hours away can pick it up without asking you, because you are asleep. That constraint improves code quality more reliably than most process does.The architecture aimed at predictability. Health tech iterates fast and is held to standards that assume it does not, so the frontend has to allow both.
