About the client

Next, formerly Reveall B.V., builds event technology for live experiences: tools for organisers running digital-first events.

Project Overview

The Next frontend worked, but its structure had stopped helping. Component hierarchy had drifted, layout was inconsistent between sections, and the same UI kept getting rebuilt slightly differently in each place it appeared.The redesign was about separation of concerns before anything visual. Where a component’s responsibility ends, what owns layout, what owns state. Those answers decide how expensive the next two years are.The bulk of the work was designing reusable custom components. Duplication is the thing that quietly kills a frontend, and every duplicate is a place where a future fix gets applied once and missed twice. Vuetify and Bootstrap cover the parts where a well-tested existing component beats a bespoke one.What came out is a more predictable foundation. Not finished, foundations never are, but predictable, which is what lets a team move quickly without breaking things behind them.

The Challenge

Redesigning an application while product development continues is the constraint that shapes everything. You cannot stop the world and refactor, so changes have to be compatible with the workflows and features that exist right now.The pull is always between delivering this week and not regretting it next year. Component boundaries, layout systems and styling strategy are where that gets decided.

My Contribution

Frontend engineer with the architecture as my main concern. I defined the UI architecture, guided component design, and set up the structure the later work was built on.A lot of it was conversation with designers and product people: taking design concepts and finding the frontend structure that expresses them, while being clear about which visual ideas were cheap and which were expensive.I built custom components and used Vuetify and Bootstrap where they earned their place.
